On the evening of September 6th, the"piano and string music weekend indoor concert", jointly organized by school of physics and technology and hongyi honor college of Wuhan university, was held as scheduled. Professor Shi Jing, dean of hongyi honor college of Wuhan university, attended and participated in the event.
Five excellent young performers from the famous music college in Germany, have brought an incomparable soul purification to the whole school, in the luxurious lecture hall of the school of physics and technology.
This is one of the series of activities of hongyi honor college of Wuhan university to put its BOYA education into practice, which aims at promoting the introduction of high art into the campus and improve students' appreciation ability of music through close appreciation, so as to roundly enhance students' comprehensive quality. The concert attracted not only a large number of students, but many teachers to bring their children to watch and learn.
To begin with, Professor Jiang Bai’an delivered an opening introduction. Subsequently, five Chinese students who have studied in Germany met with the audience. What’s worth mentioning was that before each single performance, Professor Jiang Bai’an and the performers vividly introduced the music knowledge of musical instruments, such as historical origin, the structure of the musical instruments, the characteristics of the timbre, the forms of the performance, the types of music suitable for performances and so on. Particularly, they played Chinese pieces with western instruments, combining Chinese and Western music. It enabled the audience to appreciate high art and taste classical music with knowledge and curiosity, thus achieving the dual effect of "Bo" and "Ya".
Zhang Hai, a graduate student of the National University of Music and Drama in Hamburg, and the outstanding clarinet player, was the first to bring the Weber Big Duo. The undulating, melodious woodwind sounds, with the soft accompaniment of the piano, showed a unique tension that was intoxicating.
Hu Zeen, who also studied at the National University of Music and Drama in Hamburg, with his beloved companion oboe, brought Schumann's romantic songs to the audience. The high-level cooperation with the instrument, the grasp of the tone of the music, and the unique understanding of the movement made the masterpieces perfectly interpreted.
Nevertheless, the core show that made everyone exclaim and clap their hands had just arrived. With his superb violin skills, Zhang Lijunyi demonstrated the common chords, bows, plucked strings and overtones in the violin performance, allowing the audience to experience the ever-changing music world. All kinds of difficult were on demand, Zhang Lijunyi always responded them with a confident smile and smooth performances. Before the end of faded out, the audience has forgotten themselves, without knowing where they really were.
Jiang Bozhou’s years of performance reflected his deep affection for the contrabass. In order to better "taste the sound", he tried hard to explore new methods of playing contrabass. In addition to the violin bass duo, he played another piece of self-made music of a different style.
Jiang Bozhou brought the first minor climax of this concert through innovative combination of western musical instrument, contrabass and Chinese conventional musical instrument, guqin. He hugged the instrument and played it vividly by imitating the guqin’s playing skills, that is, right-hand plucking, left-hand chord and sound-playing techniques, which gave the audience a refreshing look. With the performers’ ingenuity, the excellent music could connect the East and the West, cross the ancient and modern times, and eventually become a world-wide, eternal treasure of human spirit.
Finally, Wu Yuening, who brought the most pieces of music to the audience, played "Chopin Polish Dance". Her fingers ran across the black and white keys, sometimes like flowing clouds and water, sometimes like jade beads dropping on the plate. In order to let the audience experience the varied effects of the 88-key piano as much as possible, she also temporarily played the polyphonic part of the left-handed single melody in and the melody alignment of Paknini's Canon adapted by Liszt, which really made people feel the magic of the fingers of the performers!
The wonderful performances of the five musicians gave all the people present there a more profound understanding of “refined music”.
Prof. Shi Jing and Prof. Jiang Bai'an, the president of hongyi honor college of Wuhan university, respectively commented on this concert from the perspective of physics and art. The interconnection of physics and art was perfectly displayed in this musical event; the combination of scientific spirit and humanistic concern was the theme of this high art event that has purified the soul.
After the performances, the audience lingered for a long time. Some students took photos with the performers. Some couldn't help playing bars on the piano against Wu Yuening and exchanged each other’s feelings. Moreover, some students had a new understanding of classical music through this concert and they actively came up with many cross-border ideas, combining their majors and art. These ideas were also affirmed by Dean Shi. Dean shi was pleased to say that we would adhere to the concept of BOYA education and provide more brilliant and diversified activities of art appreciation for everyone.
